Description

White marble. Naked. Complete, mended from many fragments. Weight on right leg. Left leg forward leaning against tree trunk. Right arm behind back, wrist touching right buttock, grape in hand. Holds skin of wine under left arm, neck in left hand. Thick circular plinth. Ears are normal human form. Wreath in hair. Head inclined to left. Amanda Claridge (March 12, 1979) : Very little of this is ancient--basically just parts of the torso and some of the wine skin. The rest is modern restoration. Note the different kinds of marble; the whitish marble with dark streaks (legs and elsewhere) is Carrara.
