At-Home Anthro LIVEBring your natural curiosity and craftiness into FREE live learning sessions by Penn Museum educators. Every Tuesday, join these 30-minute sessions—perfect for kids in elementary to middle school—to dig deeper into world cultures, archaeology, and anthropology with demonstrations of hands-on projects you can try at home!
Join Museum educators as we look closely at the bright colors and bold designs of Kalighat paintings. Originally created by patuas (painters on cloth) working in the area around Kolkata, India, these paintings were sold as souvenirs for pilgrims visiting a temple to the goddess Kali. Learn more about the stories depicted on these paintings, and follow along as we sketch scenes from popular stories today.
Recommended Materials: Paper and pencils, crayons, or markers.
