Description
The 5 peices are identical in size and decoration except for 2 in which one element of the decoration (bird) is missing. Each piece has as its base a thin, rectangular sheet of gold rolled up on the 2 short ends to form a very thin tube for threading. Each tube has a very fine, closely spaced, horizontal grooving. The remaining decoration is free-standing on the plaque. Parallel to each tube is a rabbit, prone, and a palmette. In the center of the plaque is a large flower. On 3 a bird is preserved, perched on the centerof the flower. The original catalogue card suggests that these were for a girdle or a tiara. 2 more identical pieces: MS 2544A, B.
